PLANNING & LICENCING

As statutory consultees in the planning system, the planning committee has delegated power to act – in other words, it can comment or formally object on planning matters without waiting first for approval by the full community council.

Community councils have a statutory right to be consulted on applications for planning permission and the community council has a special role, representing a broader yet still local view which can be set alongside the comments of those with a more individual interest. However, the community council is not the final decision-maker on applications - this rests with Fife Council Planning Department.

Details of current planning applications are recorded on Fife Council's planning database and our views are informed by the St Andrews Conservation Area Design Guidelines. Fife Council can be contacted about a planning application at development.central@fife.gov.uk
