The Chair of the Community Council has written a letter of support for a project on the River Eden, following agreement of the full council in April.
The Community Council lent its support to the River Eden Source to Sea Sustainability Project (RESSP) as it bid for further financial support for the project. Although the town of St Andrews is slightly out of the river’s catchment, we do feel that the project will certainly be beneficial for the community.
The project aims to improve water quality, biodiversity and habitat conservation - St Andrews Common Good fund holds the mussel beds in the estuary so improvements in the river Eden would improve the water quality for our holdings as well. The community council was also encouraged by the project’s community element, and the project promises to increase local peoples’ knowledge of the river and passed on to future generations.
